Mayu Ueda / Living, Being, Feeling -A Lump of Feelings-
I have always valued the things that can’t be seen with the eyes but can be felt with the senses. Atmosphere, ambiance, air, mood, texture, and scent are all things I try to incorporate into my work. “A Lump of Feelings” is a series I have been working on since 2010. I invite the viewers to a sensory experience where they can touch and feel the objects I make, in an effort to recreate my feelings in the form.
“Living” means:
I feel as though there is something always protecting and watching over me. I have recently had the great opportunity to build a new studio in the mountainside. Each day, I am so fortunate to meet new people and form wonderful relationships. I think this is because something good is watching over me.
“Being” means: It is very important in my works. Because my images in my heart are by two-dimensions. So I would like to see my images in three-detentions, started to make my ceramic works.
“Feeling” means: I am always aware of my surroundings and sensitive to the atmosphere. To feel is so important to me also. I want the viewer to really connect with the environment I have created in this exhibition.
